Effects and Interactions

The herb may have anti-influenza effects. A polyphenol-rich extract from the aerial roots of Geranium sanguineum L. (PC) has been found to protect mice from mortality in the A/Aichi/2/68 (H3N2) influenza infection (Serkedjieva et al., 2008). At the dose of 5.4 mg/ml, the herbal extract showed a significant protective effect, with the protective index as high as 70.1%. The mean survival time extended for 2.9-4.9 days.
